Ok, verses 7-14, we’ll pick it up at the end of verse 6.
[6] to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.
In the previous blog, we ended saying that God blessed us so that we would praise Him and His grace. Paul continues in verse 6 to say that it is in God’s grace that we have been blessed in the Beloved (Jesus). Paul then moves forward to identify how God’s grace has blessed us, or some of the specific things we, as Christians, can directly attribute to God’s grace. Continue reading

Yesterday was Thanksgiving Day, which means lots of food, family, insanity, the normal holiday stuff. So I woke up, ran through the daily routine of taking a shower, brushing my teeth, grabbing a bottled water from the fridge and heading out the door, though thankfully much later than I would on workdays. Over the past few years in my previous church’s young adult ministry the sermons and other messages have been focused on social justice. The idea that the church should actually be the church as presented in Acts 2:42-47 by reaching out to those who are less fortunate: the homeless, third world countries who don’t even have clean water, victims of sexual abuse and/or sex trafficking, etc. Continue reading

[3]Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, [4] even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love [5] he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, [6] to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.

If it hasn’t been fairly obvious, it’s been quite a while since I’ve posted a blog about anything, much less about Theology/philosophy. This has been partially due to work taking up 40 hours of my week that I wasn’t previously accustomed to not having available, but mainly due to laziness and lack of focus.
